Monel sheet alloy metal classification and application
1、Monel 400
The Monel 400 exhibits high strength and excellent corrosion resistance in a range of acidic and alkaline environments and is particularly suitable for reduction conditions. [22] It also has good ductility and thermal conductivity. The Monel 400 is commonly used in Marine engineering, chemical and hydrocarbon processing, heat exchangers, valves and pumps.
2、Monel 401
This alloy is designed for specialized electrical and electronic applications. [24] Alloy 401 is easily welded automatically by a gas-tungsten arc process. Resistance welding is a very satisfactory method of joining materials. It also has good brazing properties.
3、Monel 404
Monel 404 alloy is primarily used for specialized electrical and electronic applications. [25] The composition of Monel 404 is carefully adjusted to provide very low Curie temperature, low permeability, and excellent brazing characteristics.It can be welded and forged using normal welding techniques, but not hot worked. Standard tools and soft die materials can be cold worked for a better finish. It is used for transistors in capsules and ceramic to metal seals.
4、Monel 405
Mainly used for automatic screw machine raw materials
5、Monel 450
The alloy has good fatigue strength and high thermal conductivity. It is used in seawater condenser, condenser plate, still tube, evaporator and heat exchanger tube and brine pipe.
6、Monel K-500
Monel K-500 is resistant to acidic gas environments. The combination of extremely low corrosion rate and high strength in high speed seawater makes K-500 alloy especially suitable for centrifugal pump shafts in Marine services. In stagnant or slow-moving seawater, fouling may occur after pitting, but this pitting slows down after a fairly rapid initial attack.
7、Monel 502
This grade also has good creep resistance and oxidation resistance.
